Blegh. If you want to plant trees, just donate some money to a relevant charity. 215m trees sounds like a lot but it's definitely not 'tangible' in the scope of climate change. It's just a hipster feel good thingy like driving a Prius and thinking that actually changes something. It's like bringing a bottle of water to a city on fire. Sure you're doing something but nothing that matters.<p>Watching some ads where a slight part of the revenue (ecosia overhead, bing overhead, profit margins are subtracted). is used for some trees is just greenwashing. Besides I block all ads so they'll never see revenue from me anyway.<p>And either way I run my own SearXNG that grabs the best results from all the big name search engines and doesn't have ads or tracking.
