Yeah, this is obvious. The entire first world depends on exporting problems overseas. It's especially obvious if you've actually visited a developing country and seen the industry there and the standards for workers and the environment.<p>A lot of it is the path of least resistance. Even when local materials are available, something that costs $10 per kilogram will still be pushed aside for an overseas source of $9 per kilogram with only a slight increase in price for domestic consumers. That's a shame in my opinion.<p>First world countries need to pay more for their goods, and the price should factor in the environmental impact so we can no longer take advantage of the commons, either foreign or domestic.
