The Dumbest Trade War Fallout Begins

Canadian liquor stores have dumped all American booze. Dinner conversation up north for the past few days has been all about travel and services boycotts (Amazon, Netflix, Uber, etc.)<p>Haven’t heard the US anthem booed at all Canadian hockey games since the “freedom fries” days post-Iraq mobilization.<p>Will take a decade to recover the goodwill lost this week.

Strange that the wsj has suddenly found some courage, considering they were the among the biggest cheerleaders of his candidacy. Did they not hear him continually say he would impose tariffs on day one?

The claim by the Canadian-American ambassador is that the Canadian border accounts for ~1% of Fentanyl traffic into the United States. Yet we are treating them as severely as Mexico and China. I suspect this has more to do with the U.S. President&#x27;s personal feelings towards the Canadian Prime Minister. I hope I am wrong and this isn&#x27;t as petty and stupid as I think it is.

why flagged? What causes flaggage on a topic like this? I suppose the implicit reasons are many, but suspicion it&#x27;s organised (or self organising) opposition to talking about &quot;boring&quot; things on HN.

The upside is, maybe when grocery and gas prices double it will shake some people out of their MAGA trance.
