I know nothing about this company or their approach, but many people - and many parents - have discussed such ideas, because it seems obvious. Schools in America - especially public schools - have increasingly been ineffective. At least in the places I’ve lived, they’re catering to the lowest performing students and feel more like glorified babysitting sometimes. The pace of learning is too slow to be competitive today. And the entire political machinery of the department of education, state level regulations, school district boards, and teachers unions have not helped. They’ve taken all the new spending and achieved almost nothing with it, and they may even be worse than they were in the past.<p>Increased choice and competition, from things like school vouchers, are necessary. That might mean being able to choose between public and private education, but it could also mean homeschooling. Imagine being able to spend some money on a program like this and having the rest of your voucher (and your child’s time!) for other activities that grow them and make their childhood fun. If the US does not break through all its current dated practices, it will fall behind, and quickly.
