Microsoft is unable to run an entertainment business. The exclusives that made 360 big are now seen as also-rans today, largely due to mismanagement. The latest Halo game is rumored to cost half a billion dollars to create, and was described as being 3 or 4 games being built at the same time, and what got released was about 1/3rd of the original vision. It's clear that there's some good people working there (or used to), but they aren't able to be creative. If Microsoft exited the gaming business, I'm doubtful that old habits will be broken.
