Every .gov Domain

I was quite confused why the government would create an entire site telling people to stop consuming manga. I mean, I personally don&#x27;t care for manga&#x2F;anime stuff, but really?<p>Turns out it&#x27;s just a website for Quitman, GA. <a href="https:&#x2F;&#x2F;quitmanga.gov" rel="nofollow">https:&#x2F;&#x2F;quitmanga.gov</a>

US government domains seem a little over the place. I&#x27;m surprised by the number of courts and counties that have random .org and .com domains. In Australia, it follows a pretty strict structure: Federal: entity.gov.au State: entity.wa.gov.au (example for State of Western Australia) Local: entity.stirling.wa.gov.au (example for a local government in Western Australia),<p>So, for example, the Federal Court is fedcourt.gov.au as it&#x27;s federal.<p>Strange how the US has such a mishmash.

Plus the added benefit of trust with .gov. Reduces the risk of our vulnerable citizens (elderly) getting phished.

For those like me who want know how the page was built. Are there government domains in the USA that don&#x27;t live under &quot;.gov&quot; or &quot;.mil&quot; top-level domains? In Germany it is all over the place. For example the official website for federal elections is &quot;bundeswahlleiter.de&quot; and &quot;bundeswahlleiterin.de&quot; depending on whether the election manager is male or female.

This is far from an exhaustive list of the .gov domain. Perhaps it is only the ones managed at the Top level. For instance, Texas.gov is listed here, but none of the subdomains are. For example gov.texas.gov, house.texas.gov, senate.texas.gov, comptroller.texas.gov, etc...

Give it a week and see how many of them are taken down in the name of &quot;efficiency&quot;

How do you guys go about doing this? Is there some techy&#x2F;reverse engineering way or you manually asking each department which domains they have?

The title should mention that it is for the US only.

Many of those URLs could use subdomains, especially the state level ones.

I registered and currently manage one of these .gov domains. Registration took some time, but it was an interesting process and felt pretty cool once it was finally provisioned!

Not every. Bart.gov is missing.<p>(I found it in the data source, but not on the website that was linked to.)

Probably worthwhile to start piping the contents of these into a private archive.
