Big Tech Protection: U.S. Picks a Trade Fight to Defend Tech Firms

Can someone explain to me why Trump is cozying up to big tech all of a sudden? Has he gave a reason? Republicans have spent the past like 10 years demonizing big tech, and isn't thinking big tech is too powerful bipartisan?
