Their proposed workaround is to "download them to the app," which of course only works until you change devices (and might not work at all - my collection is too large to fit on any of my mobile devices (2300-odd books, 100GB)).<p>Fortunately, DH's digital books have always been stored (in Android, at least), in an "obfuscated but not encrypted" format which anyone with a moderate degree of Nerd Skills can access and convert to CBZ format with a small bit of scripting. Unfortunately, though, very few people know that. (Fortunately, i'm in that smaller group and always "backed up" my books right after downloading them. Ergo, i'm not losing anything, but most folks will.)
