It's hard not to see a lot of fear mongering in all of this. I wasn't born yet when the U.S.S.R. were trying to get the atomic bomb, later the hydrogen bomb, but I suspect there was a lot of similar fear flying about.<p>And I suppose like the Cold War, eventually all parties are going to have similar capabilities, so I'm not sure why they worry as much as they do about secrecy. We know how ephemeral that always is.
