Reddit will warn users who repeatedly upvote banned content

Between this and the fact that anonymous power mods with no accountability can ban you from multiple default subreddits permanently for any arbitrary reason - that doesn‘t even have to fit that subreddit‘s public ruleset - I wonder if Reddit Inc. actually wants to serve their users? I‘m beginning to think they actually hate them.
Reddit‘s moderation policies make no sense to me. The system is just rife with moderator abuse and trying to combat it nets you a permanent sitewide ban. Every single person I spoke with (in my tech bubble) has one or multiple stories of being banned from some subreddit for ridiculous reasons. How exactly is this supposed to be a net benefit for this company that wants to make money?

It's good that platforms take action to make themselves less harmful.
However, whilst it's "safer", Reddit stopped being a place of fun years ago.
It might be incompatible to have ingroup-safe friendly places and encourage actual fun and humour. There's certainly a conflict.
It used to be where memes were made and refined. Instagram and tiktok have that now.
Worth stating the obvious but Reddit is not at all safe for work nor safe for children, it's not family friendly and is likely to harm ones mental health. Most normal non users view it as tumblr: "oh that's that porn site isn't it?".
It does remain a sometimes useful resource for some tech discussions and hobbies. Sections which were never political nor humourous.

It seems reasonablly likely this is inspired partially by the pivotal tone-setting role that Reddit - entirely organically - played in the outpour of support for Luigi Mangione. It's widely known that big tech CEOs are all in shared WhatsApp (or Signal) groups, and especially social media platforms are very attentive to the opinions of their powerful friends, both governmental and non-governmental. There's no doubt that a lot of them will have reached out to Reddit leadership after that event.
Don't take this as justification, it's anything but that. Purely a look at their motivations and timing.

Getting a warning is a good thing. A lot of action is taken invisibly.
My account is permanently banned for criticizing the US's anti-trans legislation. Sent messages to admins and everything, absolutely no solution but to say goodbye to the communities I was a part of just for disagreeing with the president.

Reddit is not the place it used to be 15 years ago. I moved on to greener pasture, mostly Lemmy. I really don't want thought police on my internet.
