My personal experience is that it goes beyond blogs and beyond Chinese social media apps. I see lots of foreigner run YouTube channels that are overly positive on China related issues (or overly negative about the US or EU). You’ll see it on videos about business or technology things. But even the example topic mentioned in this article of whitewashing human rights violations in Xinjiang - you can find YouTube channels of outsiders who claim to be traveling across China and are in the Xinjiang region - I’m guessing with approval from the government - who then talk about how everything is perfect and how good life there is. The videos feel off and the comments on these videos often repeat the same phrases.
