Ask HN: Is advanced AI ultimately deflationary?

3 点作者 leet_thow大约 2 个月前
Wouldn't democratized access to advanced AI lower long standing barriers to entry for a large subset of businesses and lead to more competition and lower prices for consumers?

I belive that for the tech industry, it will be. Take coding, not only can it help write code, it makes it possible for people that can't speak English to become involved in writing code since AI can be used in many languages. So more coders, less need to pay. High wages are a thing of the past. Coding is just an example. All areas will be impacted.

I would say yes, but the key words here are “democratised” and “advanced”.<p>How advanced do the AIs need to be to have this effect? Is current AI tech on a path to reach this level, or will we need to go through another AI winter or three?<p>Will we avoid a monopoly or a cartel controlling access to the technology? (The answer may be different in different parts of the world.)

Are we seeing this happen anywhere right now? I would argue a very strong &quot;no&quot; but maybe I&#x27;ve missed something.
