'National Grid ESO underusing batteries'

So is the issue that the uk National Grid hasn’t really had software updated to make the most of grid battery storage.<p>I follow the grid several times a day, and whilst I can clearly see the power drain and support for pumped hydro; there’s no equivalent for grid battery storage.<p>How long before all the grid battery storage that has been built is actually being used?<p>Or is it being used in a different manner.

I’ve always thought that the key place to build grid battery storage is at the intersection between power lines.<p>Power can be moved there off peak ready for usage; I’m guessing that at peak times there’s not much additional capacity for power to be delivered.

National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO) is consistently underusing batteries, even when they are the cheapest and fastest solution to meet the needs of the GB grid.
