Astronomers confirm the existence of a lone black hole

Does anyone else find this...unsettling? Floating around in the void of space, alone, is an almost invisible monster that can gobble planets and stars.

We&#x27;ve known about black holes for decades, but it&#x27;s kind of mind-blowing that this is the first time we&#x27;ve confirmed one that&#x27;s truly isolated. Makes you wonder how many more are just quietly drifting through space, totally invisible unless they happen to photobomb some poor background star

What I don&#x27;t understand is how big bang could exist if such relatively &quot;small&quot; mass concentration creates black holes?

I&#x27;m sure I&#x27;m not the only one that&#x27;s thought of this, but could this be &quot;dark matter&quot;? Is the universe simply filled with these rouge black holes?

I’m suprised this is a surprise to many - shouldn’t this be equally likely as those black holes we can only see since they’re not done yet consuming everything in their reach?
