'Streaming as surveillance': How Spotify is poisoning music in the digital age

I do find some of the slop about music streaming services being interesting when the way I use Spotify hasn&#x27;t changed since I initially subscribed in 2013.<p>I don&#x27;t use mood playlists, I use my playlists I make myself and perhaps the top 100&#x2F;200 playlists.<p>I wouldn&#x27;t say Spotify is poisoning music in the digital age. But sure, if you want to go back to CD&#x27;s where music was more expensive and more dominated by key players then be my guest.<p>The music producers, distributions, streaming platforms etc have always taken a cut of your music, first it was radio, MTV, CD&#x27;s and now its streaming.

Spotify has done some enshittification pushing stuff like their playlists in my face since some years.<p>But I wouldn&#x27;t say they are piosoning the industry like the author suggests just yet? If you want esoteric bands on the platform there will be slop too.<p>I tried and failed to boycott them. I&#x27;ll try again soon ...
