We just raised $15M from Andreessen Horowitz to build the Internet Talmud™ (read more here: http://goo.gl/LKNHO), and since (a) people are going to want to access the Internet Talmud on their iPhones (AND DROIDS), and (b) none of us have ever done any mobile development, we are looking to hire A MOBILE CZAR
I say "CZAR" instead of "developer" (OR EVEN "SENIOR DEVELOPER") because we want someone to run the whole mobile show (alternate job title: "Mobile CTO"). Specifically, we'd like this person to:
- Be a great developer (in the beginning at least you'd be doing a lot of coding)
- Make the mobile architectural decisions (e.g., tell me whether or not we can use Ruby Motion (PLEASEEE!! can we??!!!))
- Hire and manage a mobile dev team (you've gotta be a good interviewer, and it wouldn't be bad to have a "chill professional network" as well)
- Contribute to our weekly Fresh Direct order
We might have one big app or several different ones for different communities, but here's what we're thinking for mobile from a functionality perspective:
- First-class browsing experience. The thirsty masses (http://goo.gl/G41HS) are BEGGING US FOR IT. Basically we need a native version of the mobile website we already have. The mobile website works great, but you just can't get maximum slickness without going native
- Ability to contribute and use the site's social features. Right now the mobile website is read-only, and STILL it'd be a huge win to provide that experience as a native app. However, we want users to add / edit explanations, read their messages and activity streams, chat with other users, etc. ANDDD we're currently working on a whole new model for browsing the site that will be based on the idea of following artists, users, genres, etc, and we want to bring this experience to mobile as well
- Easy UI for artists to explain their own lines. Rap Genius verified accounts are blowing up (http://rapgenius.com/verified-artists), but we'll never TRULY compete with Twitter and Instagram for artist attention and love without a mobile app. Maybe it's the same app as normal consumers have, maybe not, but either way we need functionality for artists to easily write and record text and video explanations, and see their fans upvotes and comments. (Emphasis on EASE OF USE – there's a reason artists don't find Facebook's mobile experience compelling)
- Help us expand to other genres. A complex topic, but suffice it to say that you'll be involved in both the application kids use to dick around and avoid homework AND the application kids use to do their literature close reading assignments
We're looking for someone truly brilliant, and so we're willing to offer a lot:

- BOMB equity
- BOMB salary (what do I mean by "bomb salary"? I feel it's gauche to talk numbers here, so I'll just say this: whatever number you're thinking of... it's more)
- Free health insurance
- Free lunch
- Free gym
- Free phone service
- Any computer(s) you want
