I've been a programmer for around 30 years now. The biggest change for me is that I've built tools to help me not make the same mistakes I used to make, and I've developed techniques and methodologies to improve the quality of my work. I have no idea what other people do, I just try to work inside my realm of limitations, and occasionally kick the walls to make them a little bigger.
